Quad II mono valve amp and acoustical QC2/ 22 preamp

This pair were nice to have in, fully working and great sounding Quad ii with Accoustical badged Quad QCII mono pre.

Only minor marks, which is amazing considering they are nearly 70 years old, with assumed original valve line-up. Superb examples, one for the collector.

The paper work inlcuded a 50's brochure, schematics for the II, and 22, we are aware that the pre isn't a 22, but these are the papers that came with it, so he may well of purchased another pre/power at a later date, hence why he has these slightly later manuals/papers.

Fun with NAIM DBL SPEAKERS

Recently, we had a pair of the truly monstrous NAIM DBL speakers in. They came with the SNAXO crossover, but were in need of some TLC.

The drivers, which were ATC units, needed a re-foam and the cabinets needed a little effort, to bring them back to their former glory.

So we set about filling the spike holes in the bottom of the cabs with car body filler, while we waited for the correct foams to arrive from America.

The surrounds fitted like a dream, and were installed back into the cabs, we found that they did not use Gaskets, but instead, there was a thin piping of silicone around the edge of the drivers, so my previous life as a chef came into it's own and with the use of an icing bag and silicon sealant, I neatly recreate the original 'seal'

Although, I feel, this is not as good as a proper gasket, but we always restore gear in the manner it was originally created.

After some paint re-touching, they looked rather good....
They are now residing in Brighton, in the home of an avid Naim collector.

New Shop Stock, September 15th, 2013

COOL STUFF IN THIS WEEK posted by Steve

This week is a bit of a treat for vintage valve amp collectors, as we have aquired a large number of classic and sought after amplifiers.

The ones in the video are not all we have, and will keep you posted when others are ready for the shop.

We have for sale... the following little beauties:

Rogers Cadet 2 pre/power
Rogers Cadet 3 pre/power
Rogers Junior mono blocks with passive and active pres.
Archon 101 pre/power and tuner.
Mullard 10 10 Stereo integrated
Mullard 10 10 stereo pre/power
Armstrong 226 receiver
Pioneer valve receiver

There are also a few others that we need to sort out......they are all serviced and working and can be demonstrated at the shop. There are 2 more videos further down in blog, showing both the Cadet 2 and the Archon in action....

The Arhcon 101 power amplifier

This is one of the coolest little amps we have had in... wonderful, functional looks, with sounds to match!

Rogers Cadet 2 valve pre and power amplifier

I've got a soft spot for the Rogers valve amps.. I lived with a Cadet in my main system for a couple of years and loved every minute of it...

we are lucky to have a few of the early examples in this week, including this cracking example of the stunning cadet 2 pre and power.

Fully serviced and working like a dream...
