![]() We are very proud to announce that we are re-launching a South Coast audio classic.... Back in the 80's and early 90's Mario Binner, owned a Hifi dealership called Audio South. It was a hub for southern audiophiles and was the the calalyst for Steve's passion for hifi, infact, his first wage packet at the age of 17, was handed over in exchange for an Audio Innovations 800 series preamp and an Edison 18 valve power amp... Mario is still a good friend of the Hifi Hangar and is still active in the Audio industy, you would have seen him in the Audio Note Uk room at many a hifi show. Audio South used to sell a Budget interconnect called the 'Pinky' (for obvious reasons.) It was contructed in-house by Allen who worked in the shop, using 1m of quality Pure Sonic Sheilded OFC copper cable and gold plated RCA plugs. These cables sold by the bucket load, as they were the bargain price of £25 and were sold alongside many valve based system incuding Audio Innovations, Audion and Audionote, even today when we buy in vintage south coast valve based systems, the Pinkys are often included. Last month, Mario turned up at the Hangar with a job lot of kit that was found in his attic... in this lot was a still sealed drum of the original pinky cable and sealed bags of the original terminations... It had to be done... we are now constructing the Pinkys again as a Limited run of around 30 cables and at the same price of £25, thirty years later...these will be available soon.
